After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and drawing from the State University of New York (SUNY Binghamton). Dr. Cohen earned his M.D. at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, where he also completed his general surgery residency. Upon completing his chief residency year at SUNY, he moved to Los Angeles where he trained as a surgical oncology fellow at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Immediately after finishing his fellowship, Dr. Cohen became the director of the surgical oncology/breast clinic at Cedars-Sinai.
As an early adopter of technological advancements in surgery, Dr. Cohen strives to utilize minimally invasive surgery as a way to provide his patients with a treatment option that reduces both scarring and speed recovery time.
In addition to his role with the Cedars-Sinai Medical Executive Committee, Dr. Cohen is also the Chief Medical Advisor to the Pre-Healthcare Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The program gives undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students the opportunity to shadow him in a variety of environments at the hospital.
He has written for numerous medical journals and his volunteer efforts have taken him to South America and as far as Africa, where he served as Volunteer House Officer of the Mission Hospital in Kikuyu, Kenya.
Dr. Cohen enjoys oil painting, skiing, staying fit and spending time with his wife (who is one of the top aesthetic injectors in the USA) and their three children.
